This photograph captures the northern male and female cardinals deep in "conversation." Pairs of cardinals occasionally will be caught singing together before they nest. During the courtship of a couple, as a way to bond, the male will collect food for the female to feed her beak-to-beak. Males will also sometimes bring nesting material to the female of the pair who is the one who builds their home. Needless to say, these Cardinals are very romantic.
